We are gearing up for a family vacation to Boulder, CO. Its about a 2 1/2 hour flight. Which I know is not long but with 2 toddlers it will seem like an eternity. I needed a good toddler travel activity. One that was going to be small but use up a lot of time. We will have snacks and iPads and the novelty of the airplane, but sadly I know that won’t last the entire flight. So I made this “unboxing” activity to entertain them.
I noticed from watching my kids play around the house that they love to “unpack” and “pack up” things into different purse or bags or baskets. I wanted to make it into something portable. So I went to the dollar store and found these fabric pencil cases to fill with stuff. I chose pencil cases because they are thin and a lot easier to pack than a box would be.
Now to fill them up. I got these Melissa & Doug On the Go Water Wow! Water Reveal Pads from Amazon. My daughters discovered these at a friends house and loved them. I am keeping them as a new surprise activity which is also part of the fun. All of the other things are from the dollar store or things that I already had at home. I choose items to fill based on their interests, so you really can do anything. Really, the “unboxing” is the fun part of this toddler travel activity.
